Privacy Policy
How The Whitby Foundation handles website, care-request, donation, and merchandise information.
1. Our approach to privacy
The Whitby Foundation respects the privacy of people who visit our website, request care, download resources, make donations, purchase merchandise, or contact us. We collect only the information reasonably needed to respond to requests, operate the website, fulfill transactions, protect the Foundation and its users, and carry out our charitable mission.
2. Information you choose to provide
You may provide information when you submit a care or coaching request, email us, contact us about a partnership, make a purchase, or make a donation. This may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing or shipping information, the general nature of your request, and communications you send us.
Please do not send highly sensitive information in an initial request form or ordinary email. Do not send Social Security numbers, financial account credentials, medical records, or detailed confidential histories unless we specifically provide a more appropriate method.
3. Donations and merchandise payments
Payments and donations are currently processed through third-party payment providers such as PayPal. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card credentials on this website. PayPal and other service providers process information under their own privacy practices and terms.
4. Technical information
Our hosting provider and normal web infrastructure may create standard server logs, such as IP address, browser or device information, referring page, timestamps, and requested pages. We may use this information for security, troubleshooting, and basic site operation. We do not currently operate an advertising network or sell personal information to advertisers.
5. How we use information
- Respond to care requests, questions, partnerships, and other communications.
- Process or support donations and merchandise orders.
- Provide requested resources and ministry information.
- Maintain security, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot the website.
- Comply with law, protect safety, or respond to legitimate legal obligations when required.
6. Biblical care information
Information shared in a care context may be sensitive. We seek to handle it with discretion, but confidentiality is not absolute. Safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, legal requirements, or necessary consultation/referral may require information to be shared. See our Care Disclaimer for scope and limitations.
7. Sharing information
We do not sell personal information. Our online request form may be processed by a third-party form-delivery provider so the information you submit can be transmitted to the Foundation. We may also share information with service providers who help us operate the site or process transactions, with ministry or professional resources when you authorize or when referral is appropriate, or when sharing is reasonably necessary for safety or legal compliance.
8. Retention and security
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for ministry, operational, legal, safety, or recordkeeping purposes. No website, email account, or electronic system can guarantee absolute security, so please use care when sending sensitive information electronically.
9. Children
This website is not intended to collect personal information directly from children under 13. A parent or legal guardian should initiate contact when seeking services involving a minor.
10. External links
Our website may link to PayPal, churches, service providers, government resources, or other third-party sites. Their privacy practices are separate from ours.
