CHRIST AT THE CENTER. FAMILY IN SERVICE. CLARKSVILLE AT HEART.

CLARKSVILLE AT HEART

A growing city.
A gospel-sized opportunity.

Clarksville is becoming larger, younger, and more diverse. Growth brings opportunity, but it also brings transition, isolation, family strain, and neighbors whose needs can remain invisible. We believe loving our city means seeing both.

A CITY IN MOTION

Growth changes more than a skyline.

It changes neighborhoods, schools, churches, marriages, friendships, and the number of people who arrive without deep roots. Clarksville's numbers describe a city with extraordinary promise and a real need for belonging.

Under age 18
More than one quarter of Clarksville is made up of children and teenagers.
31.7

THE SPIRITUAL LANDSCAPE

Many churches.
Still a mission field.

The 2020 U.S. Religion Census counted 244 congregations in Montgomery County and 104,475 adherents, equal to 47.5% of the county's population.

That does not mean the remaining 52.5% can simply be labeled “unchurched.” Religious bodies define and report adherents differently, and not every faith community reports in the same way. But the contrast still matters: the presence of church buildings is not the same thing as every neighbor being known, discipled, connected, or reached.

For us, that is not a criticism of the church. It is an invitation to serve alongside faithful local churches and help extend care beyond their walls.

GROWTH IS NOT THE SAME AS FLOURISHING

Behind the numbers are households.

A growing city can still contain marriages under pressure, children without stable homes, widows carrying grief alone, young families far from extended support, and neighbors who have no church community at all.

6.9
Recorded divorces per 1,000 residents
TCCY's 2023 Montgomery County profile reported 1,471 recorded divorces; the statewide rate shown in that profile was 3.2 per 1,000.
265
Children remaining in state custody
Reported in the same TCCY county profile. Children in state custody are not necessarily orphans, but each represents a child and family facing significant disruption.

Statistics are indicators, not identities. We use them to understand where care may be needed, never to reduce people to numbers.

WHAT SCRIPTURE CALLS US TO

God does not let us love a city from a distance.

Biblical faith moves toward people. It protects the vulnerable, honors covenant, strengthens households, welcomes the stranger, and seeks the good of the place God has given us to call home.

James 1:27 · Psalm 68:5–6

Move toward the vulnerable.

Scripture gives special attention to orphans, widows, the lonely, and those without ordinary forms of protection. Christian compassion is meant to become concrete.

Genesis 2:24 · Ephesians 5:25, 33

Strengthen marriages and families.

Marriage does not save, but God designed covenant faithfulness, sacrificial love, parenting, and household discipleship to matter deeply for human flourishing.

Jeremiah 29:7 · Matthew 5:16

Seek the good of our city.

We want Clarksville to experience Christians who pray for their city, serve their neighbors, practice generosity, and make the love of Christ visible.

But stronger families are not the gospel.

Jesus Christ is our hope. Our deepest need is reconciliation to God, and that reconciliation comes through Christ's death and resurrection, not through better behavior or a perfect home. The gospel then creates a people who love sacrificially, bear one another's burdens, welcome the lonely, care for the vulnerable, and pursue restoration. That is the kind of good news we want to make tangible in Clarksville.

THE GAP WE WANT TO HELP CLOSE

Between a need
and a neighbor.

The Whitby Foundation exists in the space between what a family is carrying and the care that could help them move forward.

We want to help connect struggling marriages to biblical care, vulnerable families to practical support, newcomers to community, generosity to real needs, and people who feel far from God to Christians who will love them well and point them to Christ.

We do not exist to replace the local church, professional services, or public agencies. We want to serve faithfully alongside them, filling practical gaps where we can and helping people take the next right step.

PRAY FOR OUR CITY

Join us in this weekly prayer for Clarksville.

Once each week, wherever you are, pray these words with us for the city we are honored to call home.

Father, You are a Father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. We ask You to bless Clarksville and teach us to seek the good of this city.

Strengthen marriages, give wisdom and endurance to parents, protect children, comfort widows and the lonely, sustain military families through every transition, and give Your churches courage, unity, and compassion.

Draw those who are far from You to Jesus Christ, and make us a people who do not merely speak of Your love but make it tangible through truth, mercy, generosity, and service. Use our homes, our churches, and our hands for Your glory and for the good of our neighbors. In Jesus’ name, amen.
